Trump Signs Short-Term Bill To End Government Shutdown, But Border Fight Still Looms

Recently, many of us around the world have heard about Trump’s, 35 day, government shutdown. If you have any knowledge about previous shutdowns, then you will notice that this was the longest government shutdown to ever happen. On Friday, January 25, Trump lifted the shutdown, but planned to shut it down again sometime in February if he didn’t receive the funds from the government to fund the wall. “I have a very powerful alternative, but I didn’t want to use it at this time. Hopefully it will be unnecessary,” Trump said in his video responding to the ending of the shutdown. “We do not need 2,000 miles of concrete wall from sea to shiny sea,” the president added, showing an openness to some technology efforts that some Democrats have signaled they could back. Still, he reiterated proposals to build barriers in specific areas identified by the Border Patrol, strengthen security at legal ports of entry and provide humanitarian assistance to those who have crossed the border.

I chose this article, because this was a very well-known topic and something I personally looked a lot into. Many people were affected by this shutdown. If you worked for the government, you didn’t receive any pay due to it being closed. People who wanted to file their taxes would have been almost unlucky if Trump didn’t lift the shutdown. This was very significant to the world, as it caused much commotion and being viewed all over the news. Democrats were not really happy with this fit that Trump had over the wall. The government in all doesn’t really have the funds for a unnecessary wall, there are other places where illegal things could be exported or imported.

One question still remains though, If Trump wants this wall so badly and is known to be very rich, Why can’t he pay for his own wall?

How A Lost Boy From Sudan Found His True Calling In The U.S.

Baltimore’s Stoop Stories is a 12-year-old live show and podcast wherein people from all walks of life tell their tales. The premise is simple: Everyone has a story. Few have a such a horrific, heartbreaking, but yet inspiring story as the one told by Jacob Atem. He was born in a part of Sudan that is now an independent country of South Sudan. He now works at postdoctoral research fellow at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health’s Center for Humanitarian Health. As just a little boy, he had to drink his own urine, because that was the only thing that was available. He was orphaned in the civil war of the 1900s. Him and others fled the country on foot via arduous cross-country treks and spent years in refugee camps. His life was not all that good, but came to its worst at the age of 7. A militia had struck his town, killing his parents, enslaving his sisters and nieces, and they had a lack of food and beverage. Growing up for him wasn’t so normal or easy that it would be for a regular human being.

I choose this article, because I feel that this something people should read and pay attention to. Things like this tend to get ignored by the news and press. You can look on the news right now and this wouldn’t be found. If this happened before, I’m pretty sure it could still be happening now. Situations like this should be taken upon and something should be done. This is important to society, because we can see that not everyone has a good past just because you’re rich and successful. Everyone isn’t spoon fed just because they have an amazing come up.

One Question : How exactly did he get to where he is now, like how did he not get caught or die from starvation?

Do We Know Everything?

Bill Cosby has been now sentenced to 10 years in prison. The fight for him to be at least put on house arrest has been going on for a while. Since this is where most of the activity happened, this will not be a option. Cosby’s wife who had criticized the judge for nearly days hadn’t even shown up to this particular trial. Was she ashamed?disappointed? After one person came forward for being drugged and raped, many others did too. “It is time for justice, Mr. Cosby,” said Montgomery County Judge Steven O’Neill. Crazy thing to put out there, but why had it not been time for justice for any other of the roaming freely rapers? Trump? Cosby’s lawyers argued for house arrest or to be released after 3 years and it was all denied. Cosby also was ordered to pay a $25,000 fine. Prosecutors then ordered Cosby to pay the cost of his two trials adding up to about $420,000.

I chose this article, because I feel that this whole situation is twisted and jammed up. It’s things being hidden and maybe things being over exaggerated. Then again, we only know as much as they tell us. It’s always a why to a situation, sometimes not. Why did he drug and rape her? Was it for is pleasure? Are we positive that this is how it went down? I feel that the society needs to realize something. Trump has admitted to a sexual assault tape and he is supposed to be our role model? Someone who is leading us? White rich owning males get away with a lot. We will never be together as a society. This is a nation that braces can’t even straighten.

My Question : Since Bill Cosby is so old, but yet so rich, Why can he not be put on house arrest with someone watching him? Or maybe even put in a retirement home?

My Question : Since other girls spoke up, Why was their case not looked into? A time limit? What kind of right is that?
